What
stands out to you about Birth Days? What about Offred's commentary on
the rise in pollution, chemicals, birth defects and infertility? What
stands out to you about Offred's mother? Why weave her mother's story
into the Birth Day scene? Choose a passage and explain why
it seems significant to you. Work from places of confusion-- perhaps
choose some lines that you don't quite understand and explore them.
Perhaps you ask a question and answer it. You can also just respond to a
passage, explaining why it stands out to you and what it reveals about a
character, conflict or big idea. Either way, make sure that you respond to someone else and do not repeat passages!
